5 Years is a Long Time

Posted on March 1, 2007May 22, 2019 by Dodger

Well it’s all done tomorrow. Friday is my last day at Insomniac Games.

It’s been an awesome five years, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store.

I’m going to be moving over to Obsidian — they made KOTOR II and Neverwinter Nights II.

I get to work on this, [2019 note: This used to link to a Sega website about the Aliens game I worked on at Obsidian.] how awesome is that!? And I get to be lead level designer. SCORE!

I’m really excited to see how s different company makes games. To this point, I’ve only seen how Insomniac does things. I’m looking forward to learning new things and working on new stuff (I’ve always wanted to work on an RPG).

Good times, as they say.

Also, the people at Insomniac are taking me out for drinking tomorrow night to celebrate / punish my going away. I hope I survive.

Irish Car Bombs… so good, yet so bad.

Oh Lord, Irish Car Bombs…that’s one I’ll have to file away.

Then again, maybe not. O.o Don’t get too crazy. 🙂

Congrats! This is some very exciting stuff, 😀

You’ll have to keep us all informed about your discoveries, vis-a-vi different approaches to game making and what RPG design is like. Obviously no Project Connecticut classified information, but generalities are cool. 🙂

Oh, and I totally prefer the “Project [state name]” system to “I[numeral]”, it’s way cooler. 😛

Oh Mike will survive. I’m going to be there to make sure he’s okay! Afterall, when I left Insomniac he made sure I survived my night of drinking with the rest of the Insomniacs! I found out I’m a tank and that my drink is the Kamakazie (http://www.webtender.com/db/drink/2124) since I think I had four over the course of that evening. 😉

As a GM for Call of C’thulhu d20, you rule Mike. Horror RPG’s are one of your specialities. I can’t wait to see how Obsidian’s new game turns out!

Wow, excellent point Mary! Mike is awesome at Horror RPGs! I’m giddy with excitement now! 😀

The evening did go well. I got sick, but I got better — so that’s good.

Which are better? Irish Car Bombs or Hurricanes?

I’d have to go with the carbomb. It’s awesome.

I can’t do carbombs because I can’t drink that volume of liquid fast, which is what you MUST do with a carbomb. I’ll stick with my kamakazies. 😉
