I don’t have much to muse on this week, so this’ll just be bloggage. I’ve got a post in the works about how to figure out what to steal when stealing from other games… but that’s not ready yet. Hopefully I’ll get that out next week. I’ve noticed that a lot of people “borrow” the wrong things from games. GTA clones are a good example — they’ve got the ‘beating up hookers’ part down, but they skimp on the things that really made the game fun. So hopefully I’ll have some neat stuff on that subject soon…
My first week at Obsidian has gone really well thus far. It’s a really laid-back place, and I’m liking it a lot. All the people are really nice, and I’m getting to know people a lot faster than I thought I would. One thing I DO miss, though, is the kitchen at Insomniac. I don’t think I really appreciated how incredible it was until it was gone– it really made a huge difference in terms of convenience.
Not that I find eating breakfast at home, of all places, to be repellent… it was just nice, is all 😉
We DO get free sodas, though, so that’s good. I don’t know if I could have lived without free sodas. A man must have his caffiene after all. (Man, if I end up with a kidney stone, I’ll know the reason why)
I’ve spent my week getting up to speed on various documents and such — typical first week things. Starting a new job is a lot like the first day of school… you don’t really do a whole lot beyond reading docs and filling out paperwork. However, I’ve managed to get through the pile of docs that I had to read and now is the time when the DESIGNING begins.
My favorite part.
I’m going to be seeing 300 tomorrow. TWICE.
I’ll let you know how awesome it is when it is done being seen.

awesome to hear you are enjoying your new job! I was excited to hear you were joining Obsidian. I played (and beat!) all of your Insomniac games and really enjoy the work you do. I know you’ll kick some ass on aliens
Man… I long to work somewhere that gives out free drinks. I’d save so much money! 😛

Yeah, it’s essential. Caffeine is a requirement, really.
