The curse – Too many good games

Posted on November 5, 2008May 22, 2019 by Dodger

Many sites have reported on this, but there’s just too much good shit coming out right now:

Between Fable 2, Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, and Little Big Planet I don’t know where to put my few gaming hours.

Sometimes it really sucks to be a working gamer. It especially sucks when you work in games and that takes away all your time for actually playing games.

The nice bit, though, is that Fallout 3 is awesome.

I’ve been comparing my play with that of a few of my friends, and it’s amazing to me how many different ways they have to solve situations. Even though all of us seem to be taking the high road (no “evil” characters) we’ve all solved pretty much every situation we’ve come to in a different way.

If you can’t talk your way through a situation, you can generally hack, lockpick, fight, or bluff your way out. And on top of that, the sheer scope of all the content is staggering. This is a game I can see coming back to and playing a second time, but having a COMPLETELY different experience.

It’s a pretty amazing achievement, and I have no idea how they managed it. As a developer, my hat is off to the guys at Bethesda — this game is definitely one for the history books.

I really liked Fable 2, as well. It’s a charming cute little game — and makes a fairly good linear RPG with a pretty compelling story. If you’re looking for an open world, though, Fallout 3 is where it’s at.

I’m really digging Resistance 2 so far. I’ve only played a few levels of single-player and I’m not sure if I’ll play co-op or MP, but it’s very solid.

Ah damnation. I’m gonna have to hurry up and get Fallout 3. I’m sure it will be amazing though, it sounds like they took Oblivion and made it 100% more awesome. Still, I can at least hold off until I finish Fallout 2 (I just finished replaying Fallout).

What don’t you like about Fallout 3?
