The Wheel of Time Ceases To Turn

Posted on September 17, 2007September 17, 2007 by Dodger

Author Robert Jordan passed away today due to heart disease. I didn’t know the man, but like thousands of others I am one whose life was touched by his writing.

It saddens me to know that this light has gone out of the universe. I stopped reading The Wheel of Time Series a few years back, but always intended to pick it back up once he finished it.

I suppose now that’ll never happen.

A wise man once said that if you want to cheat death you should plant a tree, have a child, or write a book, and at times like this it strikes me how true that is. I, who have never met him, grieve his passing. I’ll remember him always as someone who gave something good to the world — who gave something good to so many people he’d never meet.

This isn’t the ending. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it is an ending.

And that makes me terribly sad.

Damn, and one book shy of finishing his epic series. Not fair.
