This Lady is My Hero

A tattoo of the Konami Code? Well done, madam, well done. With one snafu, though…

I always like to analyze peoples’ usage of the Konami Code — you can tell a lot about what kind of childhood someone had by asking them to recite the code to you.

If someone says to you “UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A SELECT START” — then you know they had friends (or at least family) who would play games with them in 2 player mode. My wife, for example, says the code this way.

If, however, they say it sans select like I (and apparently the girl with the tattoo) do then you know the person speaking is a lonely individual who largely gamed alone. From that, you can extrapolate entire volumes about the person, usually culminating in explanations for their current mania.

I swear, man — there should be a school of psychotherapy or a dating website that uses the Konami Code as its starting point. It’d probably bypass years of getting-to-know-you time.

OMG I love it! It’s too bad I’m too chicken to get a tatoo. And yep, the Konami Code DOES have SELECT in it. 🙂 My brother and I played Contra all the freakin’ time and used that code!

Other games we played together were all the Mario Bros games, Bubble Bobble, the Mario Kart games, the TMNT arcade games for Ninentdo…. I never played first person shooters, but I did watch him play which sounds weird to a lot of people.

God I love nerd tattoos. I got one over Spring Break, of the extended real number line ([-infty, infty]) on my shoulder. I’m not as hardcore as the guy who got the first few hundred digits of pi tattooed on his chest though… 🙁 Maybe someday.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/7387160@N05/427309334/ I am for reals on this tattoo. Ho ho! For reals! …I’m sorry.
    Yes I am a lady.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but man I don’t want to see what happens to that thing if she ever gets pregnant. x.o That’s not going to be pretty.

I do know that if I ever did have the guts to get a tatoo, it would be the symbol for pi on my left shoulder. Alas, I do not have the guts.
