I figured since I hadn’t posed a non-filler update in a while, that I should come in and at least ATTEMPT to write something, so I’m just going to blog a little and see where it goes.
There’s been a bunch of buzz recently about Bionic Games, which is neat. After working under the radar for so long, it’s kind of neat to have people talking about us.
I’ve also seen a couple of threads on neogaf (which sent a bunch of traffic over here a few days back) speculating. Of course, I can’t say anything about anything, but it’s still nice to be speculated about.
I’ve been playing mostly Wii games lately. Smash Bros, Okami, No More Heroes, and I’m going to be picking up Mario Kart soon.
Of course, I picked up GTA 4 (on the PS3 cuz I heard its better… and because my Xbox is still in the shop). I like it a lot so far, though some of the early missions make me want to murder some scottish game designers, I’ll tell you. So far I wouldn’t give it a 10 like some other people, but we’ll see how I feel when it’s done. It’s a solid game, though — just not perfect. There’s a million little things wrong with it that just make the experience too jarring for me to think it’s perfect.
What else have I been doing… oh yeah. I bought a copy of Torque Game Builder — a 2D game engine offered by Garage Games. I’ve been pushing around the idea of making little gamelets outside of work for a couple of reasons (rapid prototyping, trying out new ideas I have, or even just to vent some backed up creativity). I’ve been playing around with it, and it’s pretty cool. If anything comes of it, I’ll post the results up here for everyone to play with. It’s on the sidelines while I mess with GTA IV, but in a few days I’ll probably be back into it.
My kung fu school is having it’s first annual “Spring Festival” on Saturday. We’re going to get to learn a whole bunch of new stuff they’ve never taught before, as well as to compete in some games. It’s looking to be a lot of fun.
I’m also going to be seeing Iron Man twice this week — once with Work and once with Friends. That should prove interesting.
Finally, Forgetting Sarah Marshall was AWESOME. Kristen bell is a goddess. That is all.
