With a shaky hand you quietly withdraw the plastic bag of yellow powder and hand it to Carl. Before you can reach in and get the lighter, spoon, and needle, Carl tears open the baggie and begins grabbing fingers full of powder and alternately putting them in his nose and mouth. In his eagerness you think he may have even put some of it in his eyes.
After a few seconds of this, Carl’s intensity abates somewhat. After a few more seconds, he slows down and slumps against the wall — mouthing silent words and staring off at the wall.
Satisfied that Carl isn’t going to make a scene, you turn your eyes to the doorway once again. The shadow that you saw underneath the door is there no longer. You move towards it and press your ear to the door.
You hear nothing.
From behind you, you hear Carl begin to laugh quietly and you turn around to look at him. He’s lying slumped on the floor, back against one of the walls. The bag of powder, almost completely used, rests in the palm of his open left hand. A yellow liquid is dripping like tears from his closed eyes, and running in a thin trail from his nose.
His mouth is fixed in a smile, and he seems to be completely out of it.

If you’re getting into this late, here’s an explanation of the concept behind Ward32:
Is Carl on crack?
I say take the powder. You might need to use it to I guess sedate someone later. Maybe?? D:
Well the powder looks like it will spell nothing but trouble… we certainly don’t want to use it on ourself and I don’t want to take the bag from the crazy since he might do something crazy. Taking the bag risks that Carl will make more noise… and sticking around risks Carl does something stupid… so time to blaze trails and get outta there.
I wonder, do we have any Wisdom about those things?
Get out of here and leave the drugs. Hopefully this ensures we don’t deal with Carl again.
