Woo! My work made a top 10 list.
Undoubtedly one of the more heated gaming controversies of recent times befell Sony in the Summer of 2007, when The Church of England threw its toys out of the pram over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Insomniac’s PS3 launch title.
In a storm of righteous indignation, church officials described the unauthorised use of the location as “desecration” and even copyright infringement.
Demanding that the offending section of the game be removed, and the game be pulled off the shelves, Sony eventually managed to defuse the … Continue reading
PC World Magazine made a list of the most offensive games of 2007.
A game about the Virginia Tech shootings is on that list, along with Manhunt 2 and… you guessed it. Resistance.
Also on the list (right after Resistance) is Scrabble, but I think Reisistance was waaay more offensive than scrabble.
In all reality, it’s a pretty shitty list. But since I’d been bringing up this Manchester Cathedral thing, I figured I’d drop it on here in lieu of some more substantial content.
As far as my Holidays, they have been going well so far, thank you.

First off, more Manchester Cathedral fun stuff:
Next-gen.biz ran an article cataloging the 50 biggest events (in the gaming industry) from 2007 and the Manchester Cathedral thing is on page 3 (it’s all chronological, so it’s under June):

Ok, well Sony gets the credit/blame for it, but still — at least it’s for something that I did:

And dumb business moment number 63 was….. Manchester Cathedral’s inclusion in Resistance: Fall of Man.
WOO! I’m famous!
Oh wow, Mary found this too:

I think this is an awesome apology. I’m especially a fan of everything between “Please understand” and “context clear” (the first four paragraphs).
Dear Dean Govender,
Thank you for your email of 11 June 2007.
Please understand that Resistance: Fall of Man is a work of science fiction.
It is fantasy entertainment set against a backdrop of an alternative reality of 1950’s Britain. History has been rewritten and the Second World War has not happened but a race of alien creatures has attacked the earth and the human race is engaged in a struggle to defend itself from … Continue reading
Ctrl Alt Del (I love that site) did a comic about the Resistance / Manchester Cathedral controversy.
For those who missed it, I mentioned it in this post:
